Q&A

We answer your frequently asked questions.

Please note that there may be individual differences.

01

How long will the surgery take?

Surgery time is about 10 minutes.

02

Does health insurance apply?

LASIK surgery is not covered by health insurance, so you will be responsible for all costs including examination and surgery. Depending on your life insurance policy, you may be eligible for benefits. Please contact your life insurance company.

Will my vision return to normal after surgery?

almost constant. There may be future changes in vision due to age-related hardening of the lens, but this is not due to LASIK.

04

Will I have pain during surgery?

Anesthesia will be applied to the eye, so you will not feel any pain during the procedure.

05

Are there any side effects of surgery?

Immediately after the surgery, you may feel a tingling sensation and dry eyes.

06

How long will my vision recover?

Although there are individual differences, it usually recovers to the extent that it can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses. Please consult your doctor for details.

07

When can I start driving?

It is possible from the day after surgery. Please drive with care as it will leave a slight haze. After a few days, the haze will disappear

08

How long is the Air Lasik warranty?

Air LASIK has a warranty period of 3 years.

09

Can I have LASIK surgery while pregnant?

The surgery uses drugs, so it is not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Please wait until after breastfeeding to receive myopia treatment. An adaptation test is possible, so please check it once.

Do medical expense deductions apply?

If the medical expenses paid by you or a family member you live with exceed 100,000 yen in a year (January to December), you may be able to receive a tax refund on your tax return. Please contact the tax office for details, as it depends on individual circumstances. When filing your tax return, you will need to submit receipts for medical and surgical expenses, so please keep them in a safe place.

11

How soon after surgery can I start sports or strenuous exercise?

Light running can be done about a week after surgery. I think it is appropriate to start swimming after about one month, and after three months for strenuous sports. The flap (corneal cover) is unstable for up to 3 months, so please be careful not to hit your eyes (it is not a problem in daily life). Those who practice martial arts are not suitable for LASIK surgery.
